Nike Sparq Training Song Post Anatomy

After two years of running this blog the Nike Sparq Training Commercial Song post has easily been the most successful. The above Google Analytics content overview numbers are from the initial post date of March 17th to today. Click Here to see the post’s pageview timeline. The post still averages around 100 page views a day and has also generated close to 700 iTunes downloads for the song used in the commercial. What originally drew me to the commercial was the song, I thought for sure it was TV on the Radio instead of Saul Williams.

Cartype Relaunch

Designer extraodinaire Carlos Segura was nice enough to clue us in that Cartype will be relaunched in a month or so. Cartype is a website dedicated to documenting car logos and the stories behind them. The site also does a great job of visually cataloging current car models.

Doane Paper Facebook Page

After about six failed attempts Doane Paper finally has a Facebook page (we think). We need some feedback on our next product so please check out the first discussion topic. We’d also like to add the functionality of being able to download DP pdf stationery templates directly from our Facebook page but have no idea how to do it. If anyone knows of a simple plug-in to do this and could clue us in on it, it would be greatly appreciated.

CARRIER

If you watch one TV series this year make sure it’s CARRIER on PBS. CARRIER is a 10 part (10 hour) documentary that chronicles the 6 month deployment (May 7th - November 8th, 2005) of the United States supercarrier; the USS Nimitz. I’ve watched the first four episodes and can’t get over the honesty of the sailors who are interviewed. It’s given me a new found appreciation for the men and women who serve on U.S. Naval Carriers. The documentary was produced by Mel Gibson’s ICON productions, make sure and check your local PBS station for times.

Tommy Guerrero - Kevin Ancell Art - Deck Auction

I found one of favorite old school decks on Ebay last night, you don’t see a 1986 P&P Tommy Guerrero with Kevin Ancell graphics come up for auction very often. The graphic was originally the front end of a hot rod (hence the V8 at the top of the dagger) but for whatever reason the drawing was whittled down to the dagger that ended up on this very short lived production run. The handwritten script used for the name at the bottom is the side of Gates baked beans for me. To check out this deck in mint condition go here and click Galleries then Kevin Ancell. To my knowledge this is also the first signature deck ever for a street skater. The deck is in above average condition for it’s age and the price is right at $450. I wouldn’t call it a diamond in the rough, maybe a silver dollar. Please take note I have absolutely no connection with the seller so buy at your own risk.

Rolex Milgauss

The Rolex Milgauss sports a nice clean contemporary look that I usually don’t associate Rolex watches with. Love the orange hour bars on the white face along with the playfulness of the lightning bolt seconds hand. On a side note if you’re looking for a career change, love watches and like the color orange than check out the Oklahoma State watchmaking program. Rolex just pumped a million dollars into the program.
